Founded in 1981, Wildlife Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is dedicated to the providing the needed pharmaceuticals for wildlife, nonfood and non-domestic species. We are located at the foothills of the beautiful Rocky Mountains in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Over the last decade, we have developed in-depth knowledge and expertise in the development and registration of specialized products for use in wildlife species. In addition to manufacturing, registering and marketing its own products, Wildlife Pharmaceuticals can also provide customized
pharmacy services for other niche pharmaceuticals through its ZooPharm division.
 The genesis of Wildlife Pharmaceuticals, Inc. was the vision of Dr. Bill Lance. Dr. Lance's love for animals resulted in a degree in veterinary medicine from Oklahoma State University in the mid-1960's, followed by a Master's Degree in Wildlife Biology from Colorado State University in the early 1970's. He later obtained a PhD in Pathology from Colorado State University.
In 1981, Dr. Lance founded Wildlife Pharmaceuticals, Inc., as the first and only company devoted to the development of specialized pharmaceuticals for non-domestic species. The company is located at the foothills of the beautiful Rocky Mountains in Fort Collins, Colorado.
With Dr. Lance's expertise in wildlife medicine and pathology, he was able to recognize and identify the significant needs of wildlife health care professionals. Given the highly specialized nature of this area, veterinary products developed and registered specifically for use in wildlife were virtually non-existent. Wildlife Pharmaceuticals' strategy was to develop wildlife-specific formulations of existing pharmaceutical products and to pursue compounds in development that could be used to address the specific needs of wildlife specialists.
Dr. Lance negotiated with larger corporations to acquire rights to certain specialized pharmaceuticals to meet the needs of these markets. For example, in 1984 the company licensed Carfentanil from Janssen Pharmaceuticals. Carfentanil is an extremely potent immobilizing agent that has proven indispensable in the humane and safe capture of many wildlife species. The product is now registered in the US and Canada and is being used by wildlife professionals to help provide the best possible care to a wide variety of species in safari parks, zoos, state and national parks and research institutions.
Over the last ten years, Wildlife Pharmaceuticals has become the leader in the development, manufacture and registration of specialized pharmaceutical products in many countries.
